Marilyn returns, a new week begins

Good evening,

10:40 and all is quiet and cool this evening. Ken and I walked this morning and then I made a bowl of steel cut oats, had a nectarine and started to clear my desk. Paper piles up so fast. At 2 I had an inspection in Oakley which is a nearby town and what fun the people were during the visit. Then I checked out the new Costco store in Antioch. Wow, they've done nice work there making it even easier to spend large amounts of money. After a berry sundae I drove back home to begin working up the report for the property just seen. It is done now. Marilyn came home in the late afternoon with glowing reports of her many fun activities which included visits to the State Fair, a nearby casino for a buffet and a big win on the nickle machine. She really enjoyed time spent with her friend Diane.

Tomorrow I have an appointment to call the IRS but since we are not quite done with the 2007 tax year Ken is suggesting I seek a little more time so I will try to make that point.

Nan always kept the pets up to date on their shots, flea control and grooming. I finally broke down today and applied Front Line plus to each of the girls in hopes we will find better flea control and less scratching on their part. This evening our little neighbor dog is barking and barking. Lois and Ray left for a three day trip to spend time with their son near Sacramento and their little dog Pooch is not happy. He has water, food and a safe place to be but he does not like the arrangements and is still barking at 10:45. I'm not sure how to help him and this is not the first time he has been left on his own. Hope he settles down during the night. I want to help him but don't know what to do.

Those with GIST are always on my heart, I read about the experiences of GISTers every day in the Life Raft emails. Tonight our friend Irene Wing needs our prayers and best thoughts. Just 8 months after a recent surgery she has new tumors growing and now they are causing her severe pain and suffering. She is actively pursuing medical help through Kaiser and GIST specialists located in Portland. I know she would appreciate knowing that we are all including her and Ron in our prayers. GIST is a terrible enemy that so many face. Oh that a cure could be found or a better stop gap medical breakthrough could take place. Right now its surgery, then Gleevec, then Sutent and then one is left with many options, trials and it becomes a guessing process, to find what is best. Irene is trying to obtain nexavar and it looks good that should might be able to use it in an off label manner instead of having to wait through all the steps to prepare for a trial. Valuable time can be lost and with GIST days and weeks are important. Haste is vital. Not all oncologists know that but its true.

I am thankful tonight for Nikki and Steve, Jason and Jo and the three precious little wonders, Keanna, Kallie and Timothy. Life beams when they are near. I deeply appreciate the loving attention and care I receive from my family. Its not a given, not all families know how to love in tangible ways like mine does and I think them for it.

So good night my friend, how can I help you?

love
